During the 1919-21 War of Independence, rebels under
Michael Collins, sought refuge here and made their
confessions to sympathetic clergy in secret rooms. Then
called The Maid of Erin, its small rooms and proximity to
the Pro-Cathedral led to it become known as ‘The Confession
Box’. One of the smallest bars in Dublin, it is situated
in the heart of Dublin opposite the Pro-Cathedral
and near the Spire and Luas. This authentic cosy Dublin
pub is frequented by local regulars and returning visitors
from afar. Feel at home and relax or join in the banter
and craic and best of all, meet the friendliest bar staff in
Dublin! All major TV sport events shown and great live
music at weekends.

Open: Mon-Thu 10.30am-11.30pm, Fri & Sat until 12.30am, Sun 12.30pm-11pm.
